FOURTH GRADE ART!
Native American Tapestry
The Fourth Grade (and Third Grade:following blog post) explored Michigan's Native American Culture; including their visual language or art symbols. The students drew their own, modern day symbols for objects of our times to use in their art project. Can you imagine what the people of The Chippewa Tribe would think of our symbols for iPods, gaming systems and pizza?!
They then created a tapestry that had to include a woven portion, a sewn portion, a fringed edge portion and cut leather pieces; along with their drawings of modern day symbols.
The photos below are in the earlier classes...they are working HARD!
Make sure you check the final art pieces in the Art Show in May.
A special "Thank You" to all the parents who have donated items for us to use in our art projects this year....Especially, THE LEATHER SAMPLE PIECES!!! Thank you for sharing and God Bess.
